Privacy Policy
App: SayWhatYouMean
Provider: One Last Job ("we", "us", "our")
Effective date: 8 August 2026
Contact: hello@saywhatyoumean.app
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the SayWhatYouMean mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. A note on how the App works
SayWhatYouMean turns your spoken or typed thoughts into clear, polished writing. When you record a voice note or type text, it is sent securely to our processing service, where it is transcribed (for voice) and rewritten by our AI providers, and the result is returned to you. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not build a profile of you.
2. Information we process
Information you provide
- Voice recordings you make in the App — audio you choose to record is sent securely for transcription into text. The App records only when you tap the microphone, and never in the background. The audio is processed to produce your transcript and is not kept as a stored recording by us.
- Text you enter — rough ideas and messages you submit to be rewritten, summarised, or translated.
- Preferences — such as your chosen tone and output language, used only to shape the result.
Information collected automatically
- Subscription data — if you subscribe, purchase information and an app-generated/device identifier are processed by Apple and RevenueCat so your subscription works across your devices. This is not linked to your name and we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites.
- Technical data — when the App communicates with our servers, limited technical information (such as IP address, timestamp, and request data) may be processed by our hosting provider to deliver and secure the service. We do not use this to identify you and we do not combine it with your submitted content to profile you.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your name, email, contacts, precise location, or payment details. Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card or account details.
- We do not require sign-in, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever.
3. How we use information
- To generate the writing, replies, coaching, and suggestions you request.
- To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the App.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, or fraud.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We rely on your consent (which you give by submitting content) and our legitimate interest in operating the App as the legal bases for this processing.
4. Third-party service providers (subprocessors)
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the App. They process data only to provide their services to us and are bound by their own privacy and security commitments:
- Cloudflare — hosts the service and provides the speech-to-text transcription of your voice recordings (Cloudflare Workers AI). See cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
- Anthropic — provides the AI that rewrites, summarises, and translates your text. Content you submit is sent to Anthropic to produce a response. See Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy. Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted through its business API by default. Content is transmitted over an encrypted connection solely to generate your result, and Anthropic is contractually required to protect it to a standard comparable to this policy.
- RevenueCat — manages our in-app subscriptions. To do this it processes purchase information and an app-generated identifier (and a device identifier) so it can validate and restore your subscription. It does not receive your recordings or text. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Apple — processes your subscription payment through your Apple ID and distributes the App. We never receive your payment details. See Apple's privacy policy.
5. Data retention
- We do not maintain our own database of your submitted content. Once your audio has been transcribed and your text rewritten, we do not store your recordings or text on our own servers.
- Content passes through our providers (Anthropic and Cloudflare), who may retain it briefly for a limited period for security, abuse-prevention, and operational purposes in accordance with their policies, after which it is deleted.
- Your History (results you choose to keep) is stored only on your device. Deleting the App deletes it. It is never uploaded to us.
6. Data storage and international transfers
Our providers operate globally, and your information may be processed on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, we and our providers rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers. By using the App, you understand that your information may be processed in these locations.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for the content you choose to submit — please avoid submitting highly sensitive personal information (such as government IDs, financial account numbers, or health information).
8. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country, if higher). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the App, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. Because we do not maintain accounts or a database of your content, we typically hold no stored personal information to access or delete; however, you may still contact us to exercise the rights below.
- EU/UK (GDPR): rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to processing, and data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): rights to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information.
- Australia (Privacy Act 1988 / APPs): rights to access and correct your personal information and to complain about how it is handled.
To exercise any right, email hello@saywhatyoumean.app. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
10. Permissions we request
- Microphone: requested only so you can dictate. The App records only while you are on the recording screen and have tapped the microphone, never in the background. You can decline or revoke this permission in your device settings at any time (you can still type instead).
11. AI-generated content
Responses are generated by artificial intelligence and are provided for convenience only. They may be inaccurate, inappropriate for a given situation, or not reflect your intent. You are solely responsible for reviewing and deciding whether to use any message or suggestion. The App does not provide professional, legal, psychological, or relationship advice.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and post the updated policy at this URL. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
